Horseshoe Crab: Horseshoe crabs mate and night usually when the temperature is much warmer. Male crabs arrive about three weeks before the females. The males will search the waters for mates who are just arriving. A male will find a female since the females releases pheromones when it is capable of mating. When a male finds a mate, he will
attach his claws (also known as pedipalps) to the female and be dragged to the shore. Sometimes more then one male will want the mate and they will create a chain with one attaching to the other.
